Not so long ago while making arrangements to move from the west coast to the east, it quickly came to our attention, airlines did not allow our beloved mini dachshunds to travel in the cabin with us. At that time we were not comfortable in turning them over to hurried baggage handlers and assigning them to the cargo area. Although pressed by time, we were going to have to make the long trip by car.

Since then much progress has been made, many airlines have relaxed their position for small pets and they are now allowed to travel with their owners in the cabin. Carriers are designed with care and consideration for your pet’s safety, comfort and privacy in mind. These carriers are made in proportions to fit in the space at their owner’s feet. For those larger pets, airlines are making accommodations and changes to their procedures in the handling of pets. For example, Midwest Airlines enables you to reserve a secure spot for your kenneled pet below the cockpit in a temperature controlled and pressurized pet compartment. Pets are escorted and placed in a separate compartment, safely away from baggage and other cargo.

Now as we travel about the country, we thoroughly enjoy taking our dogs along with us. It has been an enjoyable experience; in the process we have discovered an entire pet loving community that is open and friendly. These pet packing people like us are in need of quality products that are safe, lightweight, comfortable and fun. This need has become our mission.
